Ice Speedway is a type of motorcycle racing, which are conducted on an ice track. This is one of the most spectacular species of winter sports, and Russian riders are leaders. The feature of ice races is that the motorcycle slides on the verge of speed at a speed of up to 200 km / h. The main role is played by carbide spikes that are sharpened before the sharpness of the razor. They are located only on the left side of the wheel, as the races come against a clockwise arrow, and the motorcycle "falls" to the left side. Also, motorcycles have no brakes and gearboxes – stopping the rotation of the wheels on such tracks will lead to a fall, and slows down the athlete with the foot. Although every race lasts only a few minutes, Ice Speedway attracts a lot of fans and participants.

Snow kiting

Russian open spaces are the best suited for winter kiting. A kite is a towing device that resembles a parachute or a sail. With the help of the wind that inflates the kite, the athlete moves on a special board – in the classic version on water, and in winter – on snow or ice. This is an extreme sport, as the control of the kite requires special skills, and while riding, various tricks are expected to be performed. It is dangerous to master a kite on your own, it is better to turn to professionals.

The main thing in kiting is to find the optimal spot (platform), which combines a fairly smooth surface and wind power. Lakes are usually chosen for classes, while the thickness of the ice should be at least 7 centimeters. However, some negative phenomena of water bodies (for example, water under the snow, heaps of ice) switch the attention of snowkiters to the fields – the terrain is better and there is more wind.

Favorite places for kiteboarding are Bolshoy Stroginsky backwater in Moscow, Lake Pleshcheyevo (Pereslavl-Zalessky), fields near Podolsk (15 km along the Simferopol highway) and Dmitrov (next to the Sorochany ski resort), Kudinovsky quarry in Staraya Kupavna, airfield in the city of Monino.

Where: Moscow schools KiteWorld, KiteCool, Surf-Point (Pereslavl-Zalessky), Riders of the Storm (Dmitrovsky district, Kaporki village, Alpine Valley, 5).

Under-ice diving, or ice diving, in contrast to conventional diving, which is practiced most often in the southern seas, is considered especially extreme. Low water temperature (from minus 1.9 to plus 4 degrees), poor lighting and special equipment requirements are just some of them. However, the main charm of ice diving is the transparency of winter waters, and of course, the thrill. As in any extreme sport, preparation and training from professionals is required here. During an under-ice dive, a team must be on the surface of the ice to provide assistance and safety to the scuba diver.

Where: The most popular place among under-ice divers of the Moscow region is the Spas-Kamensky quarry (25 km along the Dmitrovskoye highway), where the Moscow State University dive center operates. It is located in a picturesque place, and under the water there is a flooded birch forest, among the inhabitants there are rotans and top flies. On Lake Borovoye (Noginsk District), where the Odyssey Diving Club operates, divers will be pleased with crayfish, fish, a “tank”, “airplane” and a “gun”. The dolomite quarry in Shchelkovo attracts with a wealth of underwater forests, fish, installations and mirrors. Not far from Solnechnogorsk is the Crayfish Quarry, which is inhabited by crayfish, pikes, perches, roaches, carps, bleaks and brushes. In Lake Glubokoe near Zvenigorod, the depth reaches 30 meters, and the local Advanced Open Water Diver PADI club provides full diving training. Dive club "Sychiki" in the Mozhaisk region organizes diving in the Blue Lake, famous for the beauty of the underwater world.
