CHOMPU (Pink Apple, Sizigium Yamboa, Malabar Plum) – a tree from the family of myrth, very beautiful, with a spreaded crown that creates a deep shadow. It grows in the tropics, reaching the height of 12 m, the Motherland is Eastern India, but is currently cultivated in all warm countries.

Actually, the name is a pink apple, does not reflect his shape and taste of fruits. Fruits are not like the usual apple. Pear-shaped fruit or elongated, oval, 5-7 cm long, white pulp, juicy, crisp, thirst quenching well. The peel is thin, the colors of Chompu: green, white, yellowish and red, and the lighter shade, the fastest fruit.

Malabar plum blooms twice a year. The crop is collected 3 months after the end of flowering. Yamboa fruit collection season from April to June. Those fruits that were more under the sun have more intense coloring.

Chompu is another tasty and useful exotic fruit. Its caloric content is only 25 kcal per 100 g of product, so the pink apple prefers to include in low-calorie diets for weight loss. In Thai cuisine, in demand dishes using CHOMPA, especially with rice and meat, under tomato sauce.

Ingredients:
• 100 g of white long-grain rice;
• 200 g of minced chicken breast;
• 500 g chompa;
• 0.5 cl. Ground black pepper;
• Salt;
• 150 g – tomato sauce.

In Thailand, jams and preserves are made from the Malabar plum, often adding spices to it. The neutral taste of chompoo is great for fruit salads with melon, fragrant strawberries or pineapple. It is useful to fill such a dish with yogurt or coconut milk.

Locals can offer guests of the country wine from a rose apple, a very original taste.

How to choose

Chompu fruits differ in color and shape, but a ripe, high-quality fruit should be shiny and firm to the touch, free of spots and mechanical damage. Matte and sluggish yamboe, overripe or lie for a long time.

Rose apple is one of the few fruits that have no contraindications in food. It can be eaten instead of juices or lemonade. The fruit is delicate, perishable, so it is eaten where it is grown.

When traveling to countries with a different, unusual climate, do not try to try everything at once. It will be enough to buy 2-3 unfamiliar fruits per day. Freshly squeezed juices and mixes should also not be carried away. Let your body adapt to new food conditions.
